Image: My Year in Review (2024)
At the start of the year, I set out ambitious goals for 2024 I wanted to end the year with
$50,000 in my bank
Fit and Healthy body
20 songs learnt
Reduced my screentime to 1hr a day
Safe to say I achieved none of these goals but all is not gloom and doom. Most people would use this as a write-off and say the year was a complete failure but I would disagree. Though I didn’t achieve my goals this year what I can safely say is that I am closer to them than I was a year ago in this position. Here’s a few of what I learnt this year as a result.
Keep your mind and body healthy and the rest will take care of itself
When making your goals you NEED A STRONG WHY, one of the main reasons I failed this year was due to me having a weak and not well defined reason to keep going.
Never miss 2 days in a row, whether the sun is absolutely blistering or it’s raining acid outside never miss 2 days on your goals because starting over will take a mountain to overcome.
Comparison is the thief of joy, on days you feel on top of the world you must remember that this is YOUR journey not anyone else’s so don’t compare their achievements with your own.
But most importantly I learnt that this chase, this longing for goals is not linear, you’ll encounter bumps and have to climb up hills and everything else and when you’re doing that keep in mind
“It’s a marathon not a race”
Failing is not only part of the journey, in fact it’s necessary so we can learn and see how far we’ve come. I know for a fact that I’ve read 32 Hours more than I have last year and I’ve meditated and exercised more than I have last year. In fact, I have even spent more time on my goals than last year so all in all this year although not quite a resounding success is not a write-off.
Here’s to a more consistent and successful 2025.
